The acid mantle

The name MANTLE is a tribute to the skin’s acid mantle. The acid mantle is the topmost layer of the skin barrier, and critical for skin health and longevity. MANTLE founder Josefin Landgård chose this name to highlight the essential role of a resilient and healthy skin barrier—a guiding principle that is the foundation of every MANTLE product.

Formulation philosophy

MANTLE’s award-winning formulas have rapidly reached cult status among skincare enthusiasts and editors. Developed in their Swedish laboratory, MANTLE’s formulas incorporate a wide variety of innovative, biomimetic ingredients. Our story

Growing up in Northern Sweden, Josefin Landgård struggled with dry skin in the harsh, unrelenting winters. As an elite competitive skier, her skin was exposed daily to the snow and winds in the Scandinavian mountains.

She would later become a trailblazer in Stockholm’s global tech scene. As the founder of Europe’s largest digital healthcare provider, she is one of Scandinavia’s few female unicorns. After a career in digital disruption, she decided it was time to merge her two passions: skincare and tech innovation. From this, MANTLE was born.

Determined to use her tech knowledge to drive innovation in the skincare space, she set up a laboratory in Sweden to develop the formulations she’d always longed for.

From land to lab

MANTLE takes its name from Lady’s Mantle, a medicinal plant long used by women for its healing properties.

From our laboratory in northern Sweden, we develop formulations designed to perform in harsh Scandinavian conditions while supporting the skin barrier and respecting the skin’s natural acid mantle.

Every formula begins in nature and is completed in the laboratory.

Josefin Landgård grew up in Northern Sweden, where winter is long and the air is dry enough to crack skin. A former elite alpine skier and one of Scandinavia’s few female unicorn founders, she built MANTLE from that same determination.
